Having to be at the airport at 3am isn’t exactly something I’d opt to do. However the last 48 hours or so had shown me that it was worth it. I, together with my fellow Philippine delegates, had arrived in Singapore at 9am. Our facilitators, Phyllis and Grady, were the first people we had met. Together with the Malaysians, we headed to Hwa Chong.
The Hwa Chong Boarding school is amazing. The food and facilities are great. They even have vending machines !! We got settled in our rooms and went on with our day. We were pretty free for the first day and so we could choose what we wanted to do. Instantly, I knew what I wanted to do; shop. We didnt really know how to get around and so we took a cab (I know, I know, we could’ve saved so much). Raffles City mall was the first place we had gone to. Anchor Point, ION Orchard and Popular were other places we visited.
I spent the first night with my fellow delegates in the mass interactions. There, we got to know each other even more. We played games and attended the Summit Briefing. We turned in pretty early for the night, having been exhausted from the trip.
The number of students at the assembly and the size of the school had overwhelmed me. The tour too had been really tiring. Its not something I regret going to though. If it would get me closer to my fellow delegates, I’d do it over and over again.
This trip for sure is going to be of many firsts and I am very excited to see how the next few days unfolds.
